Default HELP, i think i have my first problem, Mike (piggy) or anyone else that thinks they know about our

cars help me out here?

ok so here is the deal, while I back up (car in gear) i have a very ugly metal to metal grinding sound coming from dead center of car in the rear seat foot well area right in the driveline hump

this soind is not present while moving forward and is not present if while reversing I engage the clutch, As aoon as the clutch is engaged the noise is there.

this does not sound good at all, i know it will be something big, any ideas?

please help me out, what could this be, I fear the worse, what kind of shaft do we have, standard with UV joints? hydrolic? any info is welcome

it doesn't sound like a heat shield noise or anything, does it? it's periodic as you are reversing with the clutch pedal out?

if you can get under there and inspect all areas around the driveshaft, maybe you can isolate it. with the car up, maybe even try spinning the rear tires to see if you can get it to occur?

got enough tranny/rear diff fluid? i'm just throwin out guesses man.

good luck...sounds like a tough one.

Default Another thought...

you'd think that if it were making the "grinding" in reverse and it was a driveshaft impediment... it'd make the sound going forward too.

Best to put the car on jacks and run it in reverse.

Default did you recently install new clutch?

sounds similiar to a problem once my friend had, the clutch was installed "wrong" and he fried the clutch after a very short time with all those nasty sounds and problems. after he took it back they found the clutch was installed backwards or some crazzy ****, after fixed no problems at all. just guessing, good luck.
