Default Help: Intermittent Instrument cluster ....multiple codes thrown.

So for about 3 days my instrument cluster would randomly quit working. For instance, driving along, i hear two beeps, then my tach/speedo needles are frozen and every other needle resets to zero. 10 minutes later, i hear beeps again and everything is back in working order. Now the cluster is dead.

This is the weird part. I no longer have a working gauges, but my CEL(which is on:see codes),EPC,Brake and Seat Belt light all work. Any ideas on what would cause this? Obviuosly there must be a short somewhere. Relay maybe?

TIA!!

Dan

Ok I'm gonna go out on a limb without looking at the car.....but giving a p1620 and you wierd instrument cluster ****, I might have to say you have coolant migration. First you want to get freeze frame data in OBD to see which fault is the one that set off the light or is the more hard fault. Take off the 4 pin connector harness to the ect sensor and look at the pins on the harness. If it looks like green alien slime you have coolant migration. One wire is a ground, another wire goes to the coolant expansion tank, another wire goes to the guage cluster and the last goes to the ecm. I have seen coolant migration so bad that coolant has reached the fual sending unit. Hope this helps, and If the harness is good that will be a huge relief
