Default Help me identify a clunking noise coming from under the car.

The sound appears to be from the mid right side of the car just in front of the passenger side seat. It is not a moving part, that much I know. The noise comes up when the cars is moving under acceleration or when I go over small bumps in the road (even when the car is out of gear and rolling), it is the sudden movement of the car in any different direction that makes the clunk noise. It is not a loud clunk noise but you can definitely hear it.

I have personally looked under the car and cant find anything that is loose that would make a clunk noise like that. I had the transmission replaced a month ago, perhaps they loosened up something and that is making the noise. Someone suggested that the sub-frame might be loose, while others told me there is no sub-frame in the Audis. I am at a loss, please help.

Default A couple of bolts on driveshaft were loose and caused a mystery clunking noise...

Usually as I rounded a corner under almost any amount of acceleration. Sounds a bit different, but worth a look-- it's an easy fix!

Default Sounds like loose subframe bolts to me too.

Had the exact same problem you describe, but on my wife's Mazda 3. It was loose subframe bolts after a repair. They tightened them up, and the noise went away.

Default I might have the same sound. Dealer said it was the R. Tie Rod.

I am planning on replacing the tie rods this weekend. Will see if it cures it.

Also, do you have a DTS? I found that two of the outer most bolts fell off! So i am also going to order those.
