Default Help needed replacing my battery

The guys at the A4 forum haven't been very helpful so far and I really don't have a lot of time to decide.

Would you please check out <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/2219330.phtml">my other thread</a> and comment?

Thank you!

Default (1) Remove rubber weather stripping. (2) Remove black plastic cover

(the one that runs the width of the car, not just the cover for the battery access). (3) Disconnect battery, making sure not to short out the leads. You'll need a wrench. (4) Lift out battery. I did this with a broomstick and a second person rather than pull a muscle. (5) Insert new battery and repeat above in reverse.

Default (3a) Disconnect negative (-) or ground terminal first. Reconnect last.

(4a) Heed warning in step 4!

Default I also removed the plastic strip than runs along the bottom of the windshield

I only removed the passenger half of the stip.
This required removing a bolt on the interior air filter cover along with the u-shaped metal clip in the center.

Default Well, I managed to do this, but now the air filter is exposed.

Is that the way it's supposed to be? Can I drive like that to the store?

I should be buying my battery this afternoon at Advanced Auto Parts ($65).

Default By the way, I've lost my radio code. Dealer says they'll charge me...

... $55.- to get it back to me. I tried twice thinking I knew it, but no luck. Does that mean the only way to get my radio in normal mode again is by taking the car to the dealer and pay?

Read your manual, it explains what to do and how many tries you get.

Default You know, it's funny how something that seems as simple as

changing a battery has these steps that's it's easy to forget (like the vent).
