Default

It's quite a reach to get to the battery: easy to tear a muscle (rotator cuff, or your back).

Default Well, I still don't know what that vent tube is...

... but I guess I'll find out once I try to pull the battery out?

Default The dealer that sold you the car should have pasted it into your owners manual.

If it is not there, argue they should give it to you free.

Default It's a rubber dump tube that attaches to a nipple on the driver's side of the battery.

I'd suggest you be careful removing it and leave it in place on the car if possible, since it can be a bit of a pain to thread it back into the hole in the chassis it sits in.

Default I don't have too much to bargain with. Here's why.

My radio was defective and they replaced it about a year ago. I didn't think of asking for the code at the time and they did not give it to me either.

About a month ago, I left the dome lights on all night long and this drained my battery. I went back to them and they said they hadn't kept the code, but took the car in and got the code for me for free.

Well, my battery died last night again (which is why I am replacing it) and I told them. They tell me now they need to charge me $55, as they didn't keep the new one, but neither did I and it was my responsibility now.

I think they're right, but I'm still hoping I don't have to pay to get this done.

So I remember the code has 4 of the following digits: 0, 1, 3, 6, 7 and none repeated within the code. I took a chance and tried 3610 and 3710, but now I have no more attempts. I thought I'd be able to re-try after an hour, but it just doesn't let me. I could try the 2 codes above one right after the other, but now (several hours later) when I press P-SCAN and RMDB --or whatever that button spells--, I just keep getting that stupid "SAFE" sign.

Default Should be no prob to run without the cover, unless it's raining

It is just the *cabin* air filter, so it doesn't impact how the car runs.

Also, FYI. I picked up a battery at sears and got the recommended one. It ended up being 2" shorter than the factory batt. This is no big deal, but I did have to modify the old hold down bracket (cut off part of it with hacksaw) to make it work. If you do end up with a shorter battery, you will see a different hole near the end of the battery that you can mount the bracket to.

hope that helps,
Dave

Default

An expensive lesson, but you know what to do this time when you're given the code, right?
