Well, I guess you're not really an Audi owner until the 'Check Engine' light comes on, right? Consider me official...less than two weeks after purchasing my 2001.5 S4 Avant 6MT, I have a bad EGT sensor (078998124B)and cracked suction pump pipe (078133701AD).
I have ordered the parts from ECS, and found a really helpful post here for installing the EGT sensors ("EGT Sensor Swap" by Steve Trac, 2005), but I can't find a DIY guide for the pipe. So, I have questions:
1) Does anyone have links to helpful DIY resources for the suction pump pipe install?
2) I'm already doing both sensors, even though only one is bad; while I'm doing this work, should I consider replacing other parts?
3) Any other pitfalls to be aware of, special tools required, or other words of wisdom from seasoned Audi tuners?
4) And the long shot...do you live in the SF Bay Area and have tools/garage I could use? I'd love some help on this and expect I'll be doing more tuning in the future, so it would be great to meet people who are into this and could get me started.
I have done some basic maintenance on other cars, but this will be my first time under the hood of an Audi and definitely the most advanced repair work that I've attempted.
Thanks in advance for any help or information you can provide.
