So what is the absolute safe way of doing this?

As NIKE says..'JUST DO IT".

Plug it in and start the car.

Default Ok....

Went with the APR, huh? I am sure you will love it.
Anyway, unscrew the black box that holds the ECU. Only unscrew the screw in the back half way so you don't have to put it back in. (what a bitch) Lift up the lid of the box and undo the metal strap, take out the old ECU, and unplug it by sliding out the tabs. Plug in the new APR ecu and turn the key to the "on" stage. Let it sit there for 3 minutes. Meanwhile, redo all that crap up above.
Now just start the car up and enjoy.

Default And if that wasn't clear enough - howabout some pretty pictures?!?!?

And if you got the EMCS option... make sure it's on the "chipped" mode and not "stock".

APR's ECU replacement instructions

Jim, are you around the W. 7th St. area?? If so, I have seen your car several times...in fact, do you eat at Jubilee Cafe??

Yes, the Borla is up and running. Aside from the killer spider and stripped nut, it went well.

Default Good article, but I would start the car up and run it before you put it all back together.

Just to save the time involved with the potential of a bad ecu or chip.
