Default Help, S4 Air Fuel Meter In-Dash Installation

I am in the process of designing an in-dash LED installation of an Air Fuel Meter and a Fuel Injector Duty Cycle Meter for My S4. I am just not sure where to put them. I have done quite a few other cars and integrated them into the Tach or a spare 2"- 4" space. I do not like straight lines of led's and prefer an "eyebrow" approach (Semi Circle or Arc). I do not want to use the Tach because that is destined for another design I am working on. Would all those LEDs in the Speedo look to much? I have done a Lotus you can see that on my Web Site, and some other "Boy Racer" type cars for friends (Civics etc). I really do not want to destroy the Look and Feel of the S4's dash. But I also do not want other peoples logos on it like the aftermarket commercial products (O.CT). I plan on using small 3mm LEDs. But the big question is will 20 3mm LEDs in the Tach for a Boost Gauge and 20 3mm LEDs in Speedo look worse than after market pods? May just look like a light show! They do not have to be bright and obvious, in fact I plan on making them quite subdued.

I am in a bit of a dilemma, because I do not want to run high boost without these instruments to let me know what is going on in the car. I typically do all my own mods and upgrades but will break down and buy a chipped ECU when I can find one that will give me 18psi at peak. Otherwise I may resort to an integrated boost controller. But nothing will get done until I have installed these all important gauges. My car is approaching 20,000 which should be completely run. I am not sure I subscribe to chipping etc. untill a GOOD run period has been reached. Others will disagree but I have never blown an engine yet and have done quite a few. Mainly Lotus Esprit V8s though! No chip was available for that.

Any Graphical designers out there? I am OK with the electronics part. I would like to limit the install into the Dash area as opposed to the surrounding trim, but could be convinced otherwise. The Key is to be able to complete the project with standard shop tools and not some great 3rd party. fabrication expense. Most installs of this type can be done with a regular shop drill press providing you spend the time to measure and create templates so as not to tear the stock facia.

All input would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

SWR

Default not worth the time to copy mine... but.... what u can do is...

modify the cluster is not an easy job. So i don't recommand it...

Why don't u install them on the bottom of the cluster just like the one in the tach section...(boost gauge)....

It may look fine, but another question: worth the time and money?

Default Thanks for the input

But I really want them facing the driver as oppesed to facing up. I am trying to exhaust all options before reverting to putting them on the trim some place. I just do not want to drill my dash before I am really sure.
