Help with tranny problem......
Hello guys, I'm new here, but I have a dilema that I need some advise on. My brother and I just bought a second S4 to do as a street/strip project. We bought the car as a Theft recovery in PA last month. We were told by the dealer that the 2nd gear synchros were going bad. The car drove fine except for being hard to put into first from a dead stop and a slight grind if you shifted second at 5000rpm or above.
Well, a couple of days ago, the tranny refused to go into first or second at all! Third and up are fine, but we have not been able to select first or second.
Has anyone had any experience with the same problem? If it is the synchro, is it harder to rebuild than the older S4?(which our tuning shop has done many of) And finally, how much should a used tranny cost if the rebuild is not feasible. Thanks in advance for your input.

Re: not sure what the problem is.. but if you said its a proj car.. get a stasis tranny! :)
Does anyone here have experience with the Stasis close-ratio transmission? Do their transmissions handle more horsepower because of there mods?
