Here are the VW alternator voltage regulators that I believe will work for S4
VW Passat (98-05 2.8 V6 w/120A alternators)
Bosch alternator:078903016F (Part number 078903016F was superseded by part number 078903016H) $624.29
Valeo alternator:078903016H
Bosch regulator: 078903803E (Part number 078903803E was superseded by part number 038903803EX.) $60.77/ea
Valeo regulator: 06B903803 (Part number 06B903803 was superseded by part number 038903803K) $74.72/ea
