and water pump service. during this service, i also had the valve cover gaskets and the cam tensioner seals replaced. Standing in front of the car, with the car idling and the hood open, there is a clicking, pulsing, and fluttering sound. it sounds like it is coming from the drivers side, toward the front of the engine, but it is hard to tell. it almost sounds metallic. the car has just been much slower than before. not running as strong. i used to pull about 4-5 cars on my friends 350Z, and i barely pull 1/2 car now.
when the tech did the timing belt, he used a cam lock bar, so im not sure how the timing could have been thrown off, but thats the only thing i can think of. here is a graph of the timing, does this look normal?

the best part is, the tech who did the job did it on the side. he works at a local dealer, and he wont answer my emails or phone calls...
im going to take the car to a mechanic my father has always used, see what he says about the sound...
thanks guys

accountability. My advice is to ask on the regional forum for your part of the country for a good local, independent shop. Good luck.

See if the rear pass side isn't making the same sound... although this may be a little difficult if you have DPs.
