Default Wow, S4ica, you can really make people response!! haha.... =P

Well, X5 is a really nice car, my dad's friend traded in his 750 for the X5 4.4. Which one is your mom getting? hope it's the 4.4L otherwise there's no point getting that car....(my opinion). I actually drove the X5 4.4L, and it rides extremely smooth....I gotta say BMW has some nice cars. Well, hope your dad gets the S8. That will be my car some day...=P

Default Surplus means *this year*, Gov't will take in more than it spends...$100-200 Million...which

wouldn't even make a _dent_ in the 5.7 trillion the US Gov't is in debt; see URL:

http://www.cnn.com/2000/US/09/07/debt.clock/index.html

Now, let me reiterate my points:

1) the US Government is currently 5.7 TRILLION dollars in debt. This breaks down to almost $74,000 for every US family.

2) payment on the interest ALONE of this debt costs taxpayers around $300 million--almost 1/4 of the ENTIRE Government budget--each year.

3) given 1) and 2), I would argue that big tax cuts shouldn't be a high priority, but rather paying down this debt, so that our grandchildren don't have to.<p>'00 S4

Default Re: If we had a "balanced budget" from day 1 we..........

<i>1. would never have the highway system we have.
2. not have the armed forces needed to keep our freedom
3. have schooling for children </i>

Not true, not true, and not true. We had all of these before budgets became wildly unbalanced in the '60's and '70's.

Apparently, the fact that our Government owes 5.7 Trillion dollars doesn't bother you.

You talk about money wasted on "entitlements"; take a look at the breakdown of the federal budget. The interest on the national debt, which costs $300 million a year, dwarfs all entitlement programs combined! And this is just _interest_; NO significant repayment of the debt has begun.

I submit that repaying this debt, which would free up $300 million a year WITHOUT RAISING TAXES, would be the smartest thing from an economic standpoint.<p>'00 S4

Default Re: How about we take this discussion to the off topic forum...

<i>Then we can have a real discussion about tax cuts, balanced budgets, national debt, etc. </i>

No, thank you...I've learned first hand what a waste of time arguing with supply-siders is...

<i> As a fiscal conservative you probably already know about the lafer curve (voo doo economics) </i>

George Sr. was right.

<i> and
how a reduction in taxes would increase consumer spending, etc. It's all just a redistribution of taxes,
my friend, and we can argue the theories of many great economists for years! </i>

Or, we can face the fact that 5.7 trillion dollars of debt is not a good thing, and pay it down...I have seen the studies claiming that the total elimination of all Gov't debt would be a bad thing, but even if this were true, it could certainly stand to be pared down a bit.

But hey, when your grandkids can't collect a Social Security check because it's all gone, tell them what a great time you had watching the Gov't blow it for them!<p>'00 S4

Default Seriously! What a bunch of *******s!

I can't believe the animosity some of these people are showing Jessica for such an inoffensive post! Her post is actually on-topic (Well, Audi related, although not S4 specific), and definitely doesn't flaunt money. If you think a family where everybody has a BMW or Audi is flaunting it, then what do you think of people with Ferraris, Bentleys, Lamborghinis, etc? And why do you hate them? Face it, if you own an S4, YOU ARE RICH. And there are many people out there on the roads who look at you driving by in your $40k car thinking "Damn that rich bastard, why did he waste over $20k for a little nicer ride? He doesn't know the value of money! There are people starving in the world!"

I can actually think of many people on this board who have "flaunted" their wealth more, and yes, most of them are the young people who haven't quite learned that many people don't like to see others who are wealthier than them. But you people with more life experience ought to know better than to throw in your two cents just to insult her. "Does she know the value of a dollar?" Who the hell are you to ask? I assume you give away every spare penny to charity? And are driving a 15 year old Hyundai? And plan on giving nothing to your children? If not, you have no excuse to comment.

(And you "post a picture" people, whatever. I'd be amazed if you were actually able to read this far).

Default That is SO true... I mentioned a way back that

I ran into a couple girls on Mt. Diablo, and one of them knew EVERYTHING about my A6, and most Audi models. She was even asking if I had birdseye maple! We talked about various models and specs, and she really knew more about them at the time than I did!

Frankly, kinda blew me away. I can't for the life of me think of why I didn't get her number... duh! Maybe she's even here, I have no idea. But yes, girls that love cars are <b>very</b> special.<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=5325">
