Default Why should you be exempt from paying tax on money you inherit; I pay it on money I earn!

Default Ummm...because the money has already been taxed?

Your parents paid tax on the money when they earned it. You inherit it and pay more tax...mind you at a rate MUCH higher than normal income or capital gains tax.

You do realize that estate taxes are there just to make sure the very wealthy don't continue to gain wealth and power, right?<p>Daphne

Default i didn't care even after the C4 but the M3 as well but can you say - PLAN FOR RETIREMENT YOUNG LADY?

spending money at that rate is a horrible habbit to carry into adult hood unless you have a guaranteed income comfortably in the high 6 digits. Hey! Maybe you do but otherwise...I'd plan way ahead if you have that much discretionary income at 18.<p><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/carssmall4.jpg">

Default Jessica might be on the younger side, but she's hell of a lot more mature you guys.

You've obviously missed the gist of her post. It's about her passion for Audis, which most of you don't have.

To make statements about her family's financial situation is pretty pathetic.<p>Andrew Lee

Default Agree. Let's see, she blew out her knee, her competitive tennis career may be over.....

....her doctor and his wife died in a plane crash, and (least of all, I guess) her irrepsonsible brother has been running around trashing her prize possession (yes, an S4, just like most of us). Sounds like a run of pretty crappy luck to me, and I sympathize. Is she A little pampered? Maybe. Well, B.F.D. Money problems ain't the only problems in this world.

I don't think she's boasting, or bragging, or begging for sympathy because someone in her family bought an X5.....sounds to me like a (bitterly) humorous observation about things that do and don't matter. Look, when big things are going wrong in your life, sometimes the small ones are the easiest to bitch about. Could it have been phrased a little more diplomatically? Sure, but she's only 18; give her some time for those writing skills to develop. ;-)

Jessica, hope things get better for you. My sympathies to the doctor's family and friends, and as for your knee.....well, I heard something pop in my own knee during a soccer game this weekend, and I'm starting to wonder if that's the end of 25 years of competitive soccer for me. I feel your pain. :-( Hope you heal fast.

<i>Your parents paid tax on the money when they earned it. You inherit it and pay more tax...mind you at a rate MUCH

On this we agree; I think the tax could stand to be _reduced_, but I don't think it should be eliminated entirely.

<i>

right? </i>

Funny, I thought it was to earn revenue...even funnier, since when have the wealthy ceased gaining wealth and power? Not in this neck of the woods.

Everybody wants Government, but nobody wants to pay for it. Isn't 4 trillion dollars of debt enough?<p>'00 S4

Default All of these people that are raggin Jessica, i really think that all of you have some problems.

All of you seem really jealous. I am sure that most of you have gripes because Jessica doesn't have the problems that you have. I think that the point being missed is that there is an entire set of problems that is brought upon by wealth. Not just that but how many of you can watch a pro tennis career fall apart because of an injury. think of spending your entire life training for something then having to face the possibility of all of that work being for nothing.

It just makes me ill that people think that there is someting wrong with the statements that she is making just because they have never faced the same issues. granted i don't always want to hear about the X5 but come on. all of us at one time or another talk about things here that no one else wants to hear about. this just goes back to my point of community here on this forum, and community is that thing that makes this a special place.

yuck, what is wrong with you all? it is just like rocky, he posted some pics of his girlfriend on his car and many people made some of the most rude comments that i have ever see here. the fact is that most of you will never be so lucky to feel for a woman the was that rocky does about his girlfriend.

look, i am not trying to play dad here, because i say some of the dumbest stuff around here. my only point here is that many of you are making negative posts in reply to stuff that you really don't know. maybe Jessica's tennins winnings are paying for her mother's x5 and her dad's S8. none of you know, but you all assume that you do. shut up already.
