High, rough idle and loss of power/slow spoolup in 1st and 2nd gear.

I have noticed recently that my car seems to be "doggy" below 3K RPM in 1st and 2nd gear. I also checked my car via VAG(blk 115) and found boost isn't coming on until 3500-3800 RPM in 2nd gear.
Requested boost is up near .65 bar around 2200-2400 RPM in 2nd gear, but it takes awhile before actual boost catches up with it.
In 3rd gear on up this is not nearly as noticeable. Much quicker spoolup and boost stays strong and even(.6-.7 bar) through the upper RPM's.
I don't think it's a MAF problem as I'm getting 191 g/s( I am 6,000 ft altitude) in the high RPM range. This is consistent with what I was getting when the car felt more responsive awhile back. Car feels pretty strong up high, just not so much down low.
My car has a stock chip and an an exhaust and that's it as far as engine upgrades go. Car just seems to lack low end throttle response/boost. Any suggestions what might be the cause?
