Oh, I wasn't saying it was a bad sensor at all, just curious about the connections
Obviously if going to a more direct connection setup fixed it, it wasn't the sensor 
I generally dislike crimped connections, I give exception to the more swaged like ones done by expensive crimping tools. The cheapies with a slit up the side and a pair of $5 crimpers, meh..

Looking through the archives, it looks like you got a hitachified maf from piggie?
I bet he probably has an extra set of hitachi wires to sell you, or could tell you the PNs. Granted you didn't need them at the time like an A box conversion would.

I looked up the # and it's 000-979-126..
audi says that the 000-979-133 is a direct crossover but it's not. i'll take the part up there later and see what they say.
