Default Homebrew Stage 3 BT: GIAC X or XR (K03 Software)

I currently have an A-Box running GIAC X software (v.7, I think) with my Stage 2 K03 setup. Will be installing K04s, injectors, MAF, etc in a couple weeks. Should I consider switching to XR software? If so, what exactly do I need to do (can I just have my currently X chip upgraded, or do I need to purchase a new one), and how much should I expect to pay?

Thanks.

BTW, I live in an area with 93 octane, if that matters.

Default Sure if you plan on buying 100 octane at every fillup :)

XR = Race
X = Street

Default when I went stage 3 I switched from A-box to M-box (GIAC X) because

I needed the hitachi maf. Most homebrew guys are making good power on just X. A XR race program is nice though if you can get 100.

Default Sometimes you can get away with running the race program on 93 oct gas....depending on mods

IE if your mods (larger compressor wheel, upgraded ICs, phenolic spacers, etc) result in consistently low IATs you might be able to run XR on 93 octane. I believe people have done this in the past/are doing this now.

You might want to pull a few degrees of timing for safety. Obviously you'd need to log like crazy to make sure whatever you're doing is safe.

Not sure this is even possible now that our 93 octane sucks...

If you are planning on switching software, why not just go Stage 3- ?

Default Please correct me if I'm wrong (b/c I definitely could be), but haven't...

people tuning for Stage 3+ had better results tweaking GIAC K03 X software than GIAC Stage 3- software?

You can't tweak 3- software....adaptation channels are disabled.
