Homebrew water injection...

Im trying to piece together a cheap water injection system, i was going to hook it up so at a certain psi the WI would be triggered. I plan on using a SunX guage/controller, and if possible utilize one of the exsisting pumps (washer fluid). Is this going to be possible? Is it safe to use boost instead of throttle position to trigger the system? Here is the controller i will use, it makes a neat boost guage also.
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/75479/sunx.jpg">
It can be programmed for 3 diff colors (red,green, orange)

I can also program it so when it hits a certain psi the display will change colors.
Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

I'm not sure if the washer pumps generate enough pressure to atomize the spray... you really want a very fine mist with water injection.
Basic water injection setup use boost as a trigger (including the Aquamist 2S kit). More advanced kits (such as the Aquamist 2D) use boost as a trigger but then use fuel injector duty to accurately match water flow appropriately with fuel flow.

other setups on his forum. There is a wealth of information on that site for various setups as well as water injection theory.

If you want to go homebrew you can get either a boost or maf voltage variable pressure controller from snowperformance for about $130. I'm using the boost based controller and it works very well. You're not going to be able to get away with using a washer pump for WI. You can use a motor home water pump for about $40 if you want to spray straight water. these are the pumps that run showers, sinks etc. My snowperformance kit came with this kind of pump however, it is rated to spray nitro and meth/alc also. I'm not sure if they rebuilt the rv pump with acceptable seals and I doubt they would tell you. For $40 though you can risk blowing one up with meth. Also there's another idea I was kicking around. Using a greddy emanage as a totally mappable controller. You can use one of the 100% controller outputs to run a water injector. I think you can get away with using a 15lb fuel injector also. Some people hate emanage but if you would like to use it as a fuel controller, that's an option as well. I think the emanage would be everybit as good of a controller as the aquamist and for 60% less not to mention the additional emanage benifits if you chose to use them. Throw in a carputer and vag com and you're set! =)
