Default How can I tell if an ECU is compatible.

I've got a Sept. build 2001 S4. I was wondering, how can I tell if an ECU I borrowed from someone else is compatible with my car. It's early enough 2001 so that it doesn't have an immobilizer.

Thanks,
Reza

Default old badge and 6 speed, means you have a 551H ecu. otherwise you have a 551M..

do you have a Tiptronic?

Default it turns out...

NONE of them EVER had the immobilizer! I don't know why that was such a big deal back when the 2001s came out but ultimately there was never such a thing in the S4s...DOOH!

Default It's a 6 speed. Do I have to find the exact same ECU or are some of the other ones compatible?

I borrowed one from a friends 2000S4, havn't looked at the numbers on it (though I think it ended with the letter 'A'), but any chance it'll work in my car?

Thanks,
Reza

Default it's not compatable with some parts on your car..you will get some DTC's if you use it

I'm not sure if it will even run with that ECu..but it might

why woould you put a 551A in your car?

is it a chipped 2000 ECU?

I wanted to revert back to 'stock' configuration -- I've already got a chipped ECU.
