so i picked up a set of DPE R05 wheels ... and the guy that owned them painted the lips with gray paint. i want to undo the centers from the lip, so i can repolish the lips, and make the centers gunmetal.
thing is ... look at the back picture. are these just fake 2 piece wheels?!?! the wheel bolts look like they dont go anywhere, and you can see a weld holding the center to the barrel.
DPE is a pretty quality wheel company (i thought) so this is surprising. any thoughts?

for a lot about them. I remember reading about that a while back. Maybe 2006 or 2005....not sure. It was a big debate if they were really two piece wheels back then because of them welding the centers and just having those rivets instead of using the rivets to hold together the wheel.

At least that is the case with my roommates on his Iforged Marquis. Can anyone else clarify?

cant b/c of the damn welded 2 piece wheels. i think i may just leave it together, mask the center off and use a dual action sander on the wheel in progressively finer grits before polishing
then when i powercoat, ill mask off the lip and the rivets and just spray, take off tape and wipe off overspray ... a lot more annoying now that i cant take them apart!

"All DPE wheels are a welded two piece design w/ platic snap in or glue on rivets. This means you dont have the option to take the wheel apart later to refinish or change outers if you go widebody etc. "
grrr these are such nice wheels, they just need some lovin to get up to their intended shine!
