Default How do Hakkas and Vredesteins compare to Michelin & Dunlop snows?

My Pilot Alpins are wearing down and will need a new set for next season.

Would appreciate a comparison on the following attributes:

Snow/ice performance
Dry handling
Dry ride quality and noise

Thanks.

Default Vredestein Wintraks are V-Rated, and come highly recommended->

by DirecTire and my BMW salesperson, who also races for BMW on SpeedVision

Dunno about a comparison, but according to all sources the Vredesteins are great for Winter and the best for dry handling (a major concern of mine)

Default my friend who is originally from VT has them on his WRX now..he likes the Nokian Hakkahowyouspellems

alot... i trust his snow driving experience. Vredstens offer the wintracs which are rated really high for max mph (forget what letter)...the Hakkahowyouspellems are a more didecated SNOW tire where the others you mention like pilot alpins and the wintracs are WINTER performance...

Not THAT much roll for a snow tire either - got 'em on stock wheels/suspension

Default I love my Vedestein Wintracs...

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/15588/hr_coilovers_3.jpg">

they've been faithfully serving me for the past 2 winters and can't say much but praises! Excellent grip on slushy, powdery, and compacted snow. Grippy on wintery cold rain but sucks on dry pavement. Sidewalls look nice if not better than the others you mentioned and has rim protection. They are loud as hell though but what do you expect from a "winter" tire? Overall very nice tires!

If they're too loud, your volume's too low...
