Default right :o) Others locally have had to bust out the torch, but I guess I'm lucky...

Actually, now that I think of it, we didn't have to remove that to swap suspension - at least I don't think so.

Knock-on-wood, I hope the passenger side is as easy!

Default How powerful was the impact wrench being used on the hub shark?

I just used a similar device on my Toyota Sienna, and a 650 ft-lb (the strongest Ingersol-Rand 1/2 inch) impact wrench could barely handle it.

Default If they've been over-tightened then it can cause problems...

Much less of a problem with the cast iron uprights than the aluminium ones.

Worse case, if you cannot get them off, you remove the upright complete with the control link and then cut the control link away from the ball joint (destroying it) and finally use a press to pop the ball joint out of the upright.

I put the nut up to the top and hit it with a mini sledge and a brass drift.

I find PB Blaster and a firm smack on the actual upright works well, no luck banging nuts . . .

Default 1000 ft-lb 3/4" drive IR

However, I decided to just go at it with the breaker bar and 3' extension. The hub shark was bending with some serious pressure on it, so I dedided to stop there, and just press all 4 out. You can see what we went through last time at the link below:

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/2282516.phtml</a
