Default How do my control arms, steering rack, and tie rods look ? Mechanic said my upper rear control arms

are shot, because the bushing at the top on one side is busted and pushing against the metal. I attached some pictures to see what AW thinks.
If they are indeed shot where Can I get them ? The car chasis has 88K on it now. Thanks

Default CAs an TREs look fine

If that is rubbing, the top suspension plate may be loose and moving around. Can't see steering rack.

Default I don't think you can tell if the CAs are bad just by looking at them.

Unless the failure is completely obivious. You need to see if there is any excessive play as you move them. Just because they do not look it does not mean they are not worn out. At least that was the case with my car and my understanding of how they work.

It is not as common but if the bushing fails then you can.

Default u need to look at this :

the main reason they break "prematurely" is bc they were installed incorrectly ..most mechanics will not bother to tighten these bushings (not the ball joint ends- they don't matter) with the car on it's wheels. they are semi solid bushings and have a certain range of motion ..if they are tighten up with the suspension extended down (car on the lift) when the car will sit on it's wheels the bushing will be brought past it's limit of range motion and used at that point will make it break sooner , much sooner than otherwise.
i hope this makes sense..

Default and ball joint side can be loose / worn

and the easiest way to check that is to pop it out and wiggle it to see if it's loose. most of the time they go bad bc the rubber boot breaks letting the grease out and water in ruining the joint. if you play in the suspension jack the wheel up and start yanking on it in every direction untill you feel some play ..when you do look for the different joint and see where that play come from .. 2 people would make this easy as one yanks/pulls/pushes on the wheel or suspension and the other is looking for the loose spot.

Default Your upper bushings are shot.

They should be perfectly centers in that opening. If they're leaning to one side it's because the rubber is cracked and allowing it to lean.

Very much like this photo.
