Default Yea, they increased the idle to mask a rough idle my S4 has

I want the problem fixed not masked and because it is still rough I want to set it back to original factory specs and have it fixed. There is some speculation that I may have a bad ground.

I will buy the VAG-COM from Ross Tech if needed.

Default Was it throwing a DTC?

If it was a bad ground or a sporadic short somewhere, it should be a stored DTC. I would go ahead and get the VAG-COM cable and dnld the program. Its always a good thing to have.

Im not quite sure about the 2.7L, but the A4 has a ICV(Idle control valve) that sometimes needs cleaning. I can check the bentley for you...

Default Sporadic misfires may indicate bad plug, or bad coil pack.

Even according to Bentley. I'd try changing the plugs, or switching plug positions and seeing if hte problem follows the moved plug. Good luck.

Default 800 miles on the clock, two new sets of plugs,

Kind of feel it's not a plug.

That sucks. What about the coils? Or wiring to the coils?

Engine adaptation, either channel 01 or 02, pick the one that shows your rpm and change it, hit save
