how do you reset the ECU?

Default how do you reset the ECU?

I heard of umplugging the negative terminal. Can any body confirm? And if there is any "side effects" to reset the ECU? Thanks.

Default i just reset my ECU. Clear codes and do a throttle adaptation....

01 Engine-->Basic Settings-->Block 060

Wait for the column on the right to say "Adaptation OK"

But do i simply disconnect the battery or I actually take the ecu out and put it back in?

Default You can do it either way you mentioned. I usually just unplug the ECU itself..

That way I don't have to reset all the clocks, stereo.

Neither. Just clear codes with VAG.

sorry to be a noob, but how do I clear code through VAG com because I have no error code when I run the auto scan.

Go to "fault codes" and even if you have none click "Clear codes"

Yes, it is reset. Then do throttle adaptation (instructions in my post above).
