Default How do you shift correctly?

Hi,

I've been driving my s4 for more than 2 yrs now but I still have difficulty doing smooth shifts. I could feel a slight nudge whenever I shift (esp from 1-2, 2-3). Why is gear 1 always has the lowest torque and climbs up the rpm quickly?
Could you guys pls describe to me how a smooth shift should be?
Thanks a lot!
