How hot do you think the headers get? Over 2000 degrees F perhaps?

if you're talking about the outside of the headers i'd guess
lower than the EGT's. they (the stock ones) do have that exciting double walled "insulated" construction.
awe puts that funky aerospace ceramic on theirs to retain heat.

Coatings serve 2 purposes:
To keep heat in the manifold, not in the engine bay
To move the EG quickly through the header
Can't hurt, IMO, I don't know how much it will help you unless you really mod this motor.
