when i first changed to the low temp switch the aux water pump was VERY audible. recently replaced the aux pump and i could no longer hear it. The shop that put it in, says that it is running "It must be a really quiet one" Being that i don't think the aux water pump got much use before changing the switch i wouldn't expect a new one to be THAT much more quiet. If i put my ear down at the back of the motor i can hear it (or something near it) making a small buzz.

your low temp switch. I can't ever recall it going on prior to putting in the low temp switch either (put it in at the same time as the pump replacement). So - it's loud enough to easily hear it anytime I exit the car.
