How much does an O2 sensor cost, and approx time of install. Dealer wants $600 to replace it!

$200 or so for the Audi version, $30 for a VW sensor which you can splice into the Audi housing.
Depending on which sensor is bad, though, a fair amount of labor can go into changing them.
Hold on and I'll track down the VW part number; instructions for splicing the sensor / housing together have been posted before, so do a search.

Just as a follow up, i just had the drivers side O2 (i think drivers side) sensor replaced (it was totally burnt out). parts cost me around 189 and labor was really minimal

$25 for the VW part. Fronts take about 10 minutes, rears take about 15 minutes.
splicing the Audi connector is very easy.
You will need an 02 sensor socket for the front sensors and a standard wrench for the rears.
