Default So what you are saying is that switch from APR DPs to AWE DPs is

responsible for the majority of difference?

Default Heehee...now you know why I said "one person" and "I guess".

So downpipes really delay the onset of turbo boost at low RPM's? And that's good to hear about the removal of the precats. Since I've done that, it makes me less want to buy downpipes.

Default So, if downpipes really delay the boost onset....

...but we saw the boost onset about 350rpms earlier, then that must mean the headers do a great job at getting the turbos spooled earlier and quicker!

Default Yeah, well, we don't have enough time/money to hit the dyno for every thing we change.

I'd sure love to, but it's not practical!

That's why I was clear in stating the things that did change. It's up for debate now which did the most, but I still suspect the headers were a larger portion of those gains.

Interesting that you ask about the clutch...the RS4 pressure plate, stock disk, and AWE flywheel (same as Taner) hold the street program power just fine. It also holds the race program fine in 1st, 2nd, 3rd gears at the autox. But, a roll-on in 4th will yield some clutch slippage. So, my suggestion is that if a customer has this particular kit and plans to frequently use the race program, they better think about something more than just the standard RS4 clutch upgrade.

Course, we make a little bit more power than a normal street car would, since we have A/C removed and a slightly larger exhaust system than most.

Default How can one change multiple variables then attribute results to one

variable in the post title? Answer: one can't. I think switching from the VM2 to a 3.5" exhaust has a lot to do with it. Unless the car was tested in phases, one really doesn't know what variable yields what gains. I have a feeling that mutiple exhaust changes are working in harmony to acheive a broad gain. Headers alone are unlikely to acheive the type of gains presented.

Since the title of his post referred to the headers, and not the complete exhaust system being changed from the cylinder heads to the rear bumper...I'm just stating the obvious. No agenda, merely trying to play Devil's advocate and inspire AW members to think a little about what is being implied by the post.

I think Corey and Sharon have done a fine job with their car, and I've helped when I could. I wish them luck, and take comfort knowing we have people out there pushing the S4 hard in the SCCA and sharing results with AW members.

Default I was expecting you to ask that....

Sorry, but I deleted the HP/TQ scale again. I can assure you, though, the quoted AWE #'s are conservative, especially on the HP end.

Keep in mind, too, that both of these were done on the first version of the A box GIAC software, which is known to have some throttle closure issues. And yet it still makes tons of power!

Default Well, that's why I posted it as a question.

It was partially an attention grabber, too, I have to admit, but immediately in the post I said that it wasn't the only thing we had changed.

I don't know what else to say! We're just happy to have all this extra power!! :-)

Default The torque improvement is very impressive! Did you goto a 4" exhaust??

and 3" downpipes??

Default Not that big of pipe....

AWE dp's, which are 3" right off the turbo, then taper to 2.5". We then merge into a single 3.5".
