How to prevent curb damage to Avus wheels?

Scraping the Avus wheels on the S4 is just too easy. Ouch. All my previous cars were much more difficult to do so.
Does anyone know if a different brand of tire would help?
I'm also considering using the stock rims for snow tires and getting new rims for summer tires.
Would a different rim/tire combo help?
(not sure if I'm interested in going 18" though)
Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Meanwhile I'll park further from the curb.

I think that's the only thing you can do if you're running the stock rims. Perhaps running a lower pressure, but there would be a whole slew of other problems just for that added benefit.
