Default how to raise ride height with coilovers?

Hi,
This may be a dumb question but which way do I turn the bottom perch to raise the ride height? I assumed that if I lower the bottom perch it will open the springs and raise the car? I did this and it seemed to lower the car.

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Paul

Raise the perch to compress the spring.

Default LOL, turn in the other direction then.

Raise the collar to raise the car.

Default Logic is incorrect I think. I believe it should raise it by turning the perch clockwise, to raise

the spring. It shouldn't compress the spring, but rather just lengthen the shock. Give that a try.

Default Counter clockwise to raise it. And it does compress the spring.

While it does lengthen the shock you also do compress the spring a little because the spring does not support the full weight of the car without some compression.

I had this problem with my street sports. The back end was so heavy that I pretty much had to raise the coilovers to the max height. By doing that the spring was compressed to the point where pretty much all the coils were bound together leaving almost no travel and causing the suspension to bottom out on the smallest of bumps. I don't have this problem anymore because I changed my coilovers to something with a higher spring rate and therefore the springs compress less under the same load.

Default My bad...I thought about that wrong...I was thinking about twist the housing instead...

that would make it right...but nevermind that. And I know what you mean, the coil DOES compress SOME, but I was trying to correct his logic, the way he described it was that compressing the spring would lower the car...so I was trying to express it to him in terms of the shock moving not the coils. But thanks for helping clarify.

Default I did it backwards? Compress the spring more to raise the car?...

So raise the perch up to compress the spring thus allowing the shock to push down more and lift the car up? This seems to be what you guys are saying.

Is it harder than to compress the spring to raise and turn the perch? Any tricks to making it easier like tieing some rope to compress the spring while turning the perch?

Thanks guys,
Paul

Default I think jacking it up would help if you haven't already...and there is no way that rope will

compress the spring...too much pressure for the rope to do anything
