how should I protect my engine bay from rodents during the winter?

Irish Spring did not work for me; had success with moth ***** and dryer sheets
plus sprinkling fox urine powder around the car on a REGULAR basis. If I let up on the routine, the damn mice keep coming back. This car (a Mini Cooper) was driven DAILY, too.
