How and what do you mean by groove the H&R and bilstein setup?

several years ago. they add grooves to the shock bodies so that the lower spring perch can be set at different hieghts effectively providing ride hieght options.
They will only need the shock bodies. IIRC they will not put grooves closer than 8mm apart.

you can adjust the height of the car much like you do with a coilover setup. The H&R springs are mentioned because they are commonly paired with the Bilstein shocks. Many seem to like this setup...a good, cheaper alternative to coilovers.
