Default How's it holding up?

Hi everyone,

I have a 2000 S4 (purchased 11/99) with 65K miles on it a GIAC chip. 6 months off warranty and I had to replace the pinion seal and the crankshaft seal.

But otherwise, it's been doing just fine. Rides smoothly, pulls nicely, no squeaks or rattles. It's purely a street car, never been tracked, but I still have a lot of fun with it.

My question is how is everyone's S4 holding up? Especially the ones that have lived a "rougher" life? How long do you plan on keeping it?

I can't avoid reading about those new 400+ HP monsters that are on the market. But I'm wondering if a properly chipped and tuned S4 (stage III, etc.) is an equally good alternative.

Thoughts?

m.

Default read on.. these monsters have different turbos not just a proper chip

and tuning.. maybe dp's and ic's will ad more power over just a chip but not as powerful as a full stg3. the ko4's are more reliable than the ko3-s on a chiped car (in other words stage 2+ cars do not live that long .. on most of them the turbos die eventually)
there have been exceptions too though, some chiped s4-s have lasted over 100k miles
.. just my 2 cents.
