thats just a stupid excuse people have for not paying attention.
My cousin has his STI tail lights, tinted with 5% and his brake lights are perfectly visible.
Sure it will make a diffrence if someone isnt paying attention, because their doing something other then giving 100% of their attention to driving.

If I trusted everyone on the road I'd agree with your argument
But 90% of people on the road are retards and/or don't pay enough attention to driving. If you reallllly like blacked out lights, do it, it probably won't matter. But personally I think its equivalent to, say, installing aftermarket seats without side airbags. It's a compromise.
