I can get GT's and manifolds for $4000. How much would a custom tune cost?

Default I don't even know this Niko. I'm in my 30's and have no need to steal anything.

Try reading my posts. Apparently, the GT manifolds are available to purchase by themselves, so I was told by a local tuner.

Default wow, that is a lot of assumptions....

i have no idea if this guy does or does not have any info on Niko's car, but if you have the motor on a bench, and the turbos, you can tell a very good manifold maker the demensions of your body and he will make you exhaust manifolds.... you don't have to copy others components, but rather be skilled in the header/manifold feild.

Default Problem is, what if the hardware isn't any good? Has it been built before?

Point is, if this is as easy as people around here seem to think it is...why aren't there at least five different GT based kits to choose from on the open market? Heck, the S4 has been out since '98.

There you have it. It takes money, knowledge, skill, desire, and commitment to make a GT based system. That's why they aren't falling from trees.

Default Why do you think custom tuning for GT turbos will run him another 2-3k alone?

If he sourced some tial wastegates and had the same guy that made his mani's make his dp's, I don't think he would have a problem as long as he went somewhere where they knew how to tune...

I don't know who S4KTS is, but I like to hear some new ideas, and it just seems that people shoot them down a lot.

Default

The cheapest price for custom tuning the Motronic that I've heard is ~$1800 fwiw.

Default Jason, a lot of people can make manifolds for our cars that have made manifolds for other cars

that are a lot more extensive. Why would they be no good? If he has a reputable manifold/header maker and gets them coated, there is no reason for them to be inferior to another manifold, shoot if he sourced the top notch welder/craftsman, they could even be better?

Default Well, if they truely know how to tune the Motronic, then $1800 may be a good deal...

if not I think EPL is a tad less expensive than that... GIAC may be as well

Default You would have to have the manifolds and possibly the dp's modified to have the external

wastegates mounted. The GT's internal wastegates would then need to be welded shut. Small stuff but it adds up and if not done right will cause major problems. Custom tuning can get VERY expensive. Not many people do it and since GT's are relatively new and unexplored it wont be as simple and quick as a K04 based turbo tune.

Default I would look carefully at the parts since (to see if they are hot). I mean, it's

like you can count the number of cars that had GTs on one hand.

I'm not accusing you of anything, but the seller might be suspect

Default EPL is around there, IIRC a little more.

But again that's for K04 tuning. I'm sure a GT car is gonna take a lot longer tune since it's a completely different turbo.
