Default I feel like such a noob but here we go.

I have to take my S4 in for its 20,000 miles service. The guy said all they do is change the oil and pollen filter. I thought they did a lot more then that for the 20,000 mile service. Is this all that is done?

Default My schedule paper says that they should check everything........

at 20k and 40k those are the major services under warranty. The paper, Audi 2000 Maintenance Schedule says (take it for what its worth). Everything should be checked from exterior lights, sunroof, door hinges, to checking tie rods, topping off fluids, checking DTCs dust/pollen filter, oil filter, air filter and spark plugs. All that good stuff.

Default In practice, that is likely correct .........

...... if it says 'check', the customer (Audi of America in the case of warranty) gets billed for the work, but it is often not done unless there is a specific related complaint from the customer.

More likely than not...they won't touch them unless you complain.
