Default I finally started working on my clutch and wanted to ask something..

I've already got the front axles disconected from the tranny and rear driveshaft.

Now I can't make my mind if I just should pull the tranny by it self or remove the whole engine with the tranny.

How many of you have pulled the whole engine&tranny just to replace the clutch/flywheel?

Thanks

Default If you are working on jackstands, it's easier just to pull the engine/tranny in one piece

If there is a lift, then drop the transmission. But doing a DIY on jackstands, I would pull the whole assembly every time.

Default Pull the motor and transmission out the front.

Soooo much easier. Feel free to email me if you get stuck or need help, I can do that in < 4 hours alone on jackstands nowadays.

Default Hmm, I've done both on jackstands and would still prefer to drop just the tranny for a clutch job...

I agree that it's more of a pain b/c you're doing everything on your back, but pulling just the tranny is much less time consuming IMHO.

Not disagreeing w/ you, we just seem to have different opinions. Of course, if he has a pair of K04s sitting around, the motor pull is a no-brainer

Default I was in the same situation last weekend. I'm having a shop do it on tuesday

My arms and neck were so tired after two day on my back. I was also working by myself, so if you got a helper you should get it done.
