Default I had to say Goodbye today! :(

I got the call last night from the bank...the title had arrived. They had set up an appointment with the new owner this morning, so I went in to. Signed all the paperwork, walked through all the features, and showed him all the extra stuff (snow tires, wheel bolts, short shifter box, receipts, etc.). He then drove me home in his "new car" and then drove away. I got this one last picture as he pulled away.....

It's nice to know it's going to a good home, he's had many Audis, but it's still sad. I had the car for just shy of 8 months, after waiting almost 2 years to get one. Oh well, priorities change, toys exchange hands, and life goes on! Or something like that anyway. One day I'll have another one, until then, a red GTI will have to keep me happy.

Such is life! Enjoy em while you got em boys!

Ugh! Hope it is a 'family getting larger' story and not a 'paycheck getting smaller' story...

Actually, it's neither...it's a "need more money for the race car" kinda story

Default Good answer. Good Answer! gotta love that.

although I'm sure you' aren't the happiest knowing it's not yours. sounds like you found a mutual enthusiast to buy it though... that's cool!

Default The Gti 1.8 t is a great choice...

I had one before my S4 and loved it. I also had a chance to drive APR's GTI with a stage 3 upgrade on it. This car was crazy fast!!! It's suppose to have something like 270 hp to the front wheels.

Glad to hear it! Parting by choice is much sweeter (bittersweeter?) than having it repo'ed!

Default good for you...

though racing is a bottomless pit of money, SO is modding a street car. The difference is you actually get to drive the race car as fast as you possibly can and get a trophy in reward. For the street car, you get tickets, arrested and depreciate the car by modding it.

Good choice ;-)

Default Yeah, I'm really happy with my choice...

I looked all over for something fun to drive, but that was cheap too. The GTI just had it all, and with the 1.8T motor, it's just a blast. I'm not going to go crazy with mods, but I will make it "better" then it is, while at the same time being a nice daily drive and being able to kick the S4s butt on the track. Hehehehe, let the games begin.

Default Not sure yet...

but the front runners are....

Spec Racer Ford
Formula cars (continental, atlantic, and mazda)
Formula Special (a regional only class using motorcycle engines)
Improved Touring (but only as a last resort)

Current plan was (it's not on hold after last weeks events) to do a racing school in October. We were focusing in on Skip Barber at Laguna Seca, since I have already been on the track and could concentrate on driving and not learning the track layout. Hope to have a car in house by the middle of January, and test through winter...which is why it's nice to be in CO. Then run the full CO SCCA season next year.

That's the plan anyway, we'll see what happens.

Rick
