That is an understatment. In my 69 Bug, the motor is attached with 4 bolts, and 3 wires... Oh I almost forgot the 2 bolts to take off the tube bumper...

Air cooled engine right? Those VWs are something else man. My uncle told me a story about how his VW van broke down in Turkey (this was in the late 70s) in the middle of nowhere. They took the engine apart in the middle of a field with a just a few basic tools and replaced a busted head gasket with one the cut from several layers of newspaper. Then they drove that van to Greece and back to Austria with no trouble at all.
