I have been running Motul 8100 E-Tech 0W40 for the last 2 years but is it overkill?

Where do you get it? Truck stops and the like? Can't find anywhere around here.
Also, I think the reason that particular blend is not suggested for auto use is due to the levels of various metals that may poison the catalyst if your engine burns a significant amount of oil. Thus, my point is I wouldn't worry about that, its just some EPA mandated BS.

Essentially what I was getting at. Plenty of Blackstone OA evidence that M1 is good for 6k+ miles
and that is with a few to several track days thrown in. Biggest "risk" with oil is if you do short trips, esp in cold weather. If your daily commute is 10 miles or longer, you'll be fine with that oil change interval. IMO the 8100 E-Tech is overkill unless you are redlining just about every shift. If the $ is no concern, I say go for it - if you want to save some $ then go with the M1.

BTW - for lower cost summer protection you could always do my "house-blend" strategy and mix in
3 quarts M1 15w-50 Extended Life with 4 quarts M1 0w-40 for the hottest summer months. I like that blend for the Ohio summers. This bumps up the HTHS values at a reasonable cost. Just don't leave this in for winter.

I just spoke to our local Porsche dealer (largest in Canada) and they ONLY run M1 0W40 in their Twin
Turbo's.
There is no other option to upgrade the oil.
He told me that's what they are mandated to use from the factory under warranty.
