I have just developed the ever so popular "siren/dentist drill" whine with my passenger side turbo

I still have full power, though...and the sound is new, but very faint.
I have a 12/00 build, and was wondering if this sound is inherent with turbo failure, or is it just the sound of my turbos working a bit harder (if you know what I mean)..
TIA

Well, if it's a faint sound like you said. My understanding is that a blown turbo is loud. I noticed the sound the first day I drove with the windows down around town.

high pitched whine that all S4 turbos make. This is a new sound that just started a few days ago.
It is actually easier to hear with the windows up. It is not the initial high pitched whine, but rather a tea kettle, siren type noise.
Sounds like it is not a big deal, though. My car still runs perfect, and is making full boost.....I was just a bit concerned since I had never had that sound before.
