Default I just can_not figure this **** out!

stock 01 S4, tip, 102k.

I'm having a misfire that is just really hard to shake and I've gone through quite a bit already:

in chrono order:

-(codes) misfire cyl 6 + random cyl misfire

round 1

-popped of cyl 6 ignition coil, coil was clearly shorting out to the head, the side was melted.
-replaced all 6 coils, and all 6 plugs (ngk prf6q plugs)
-also replaced all 6 spark plug connectors

------misfire still present

round 2

-swapped out the pos ingition amp, misfire stayed with cyl 6. (same cyl 6 / random cyl misfire code).
-took a look at all the ignition coil connectors (pulled back connector boot) to make sure no wires had been compromised.
-swapped out cyl 4 fuel injector with cyl 6 injector.
------misfire still in cyl 6, lots of misfire
counts through VAG only in 6, a few in cyl 3.

round 3

-removed the ecu cover and took the ecu out, took it apart and looked at the circuit board, didn't see anything fried, everything looked ok.
-also split the casing of the wiring that holds the wires for the injectors and coils for bank 2 (cyl 4,5,6) didn't see any indication of arcing or split wires.
-did a compression test on cyl 6 only with plug still in 5, tested good @ 160psi

Any thoughts for round 4?? I'm pretty well almost TKO'd right now.

Default Is there some blockage maybe in that fuel rail right above where injector 6 position is?

how about checking whatever sensor the car is detecting the misfires with?

maybe a valve is ****ed somehow?

Default i pray that we don't have an issue like that but that may be the case.

i'm wondering if a condition like that would case the coil pack to go bad though?

Default no that i haven't... i'm still looking at the basics......

in my experience it usually turns out to be the most annoying simple thing that causes the issue - i'll take a look at that cable. i'm not familiar with location? can you help? have you had an issue with yours?
