The Civic race car ran fine on 92 octane due to it's low compression ratio. The Radical has to use 110 octane leaded fuel at $5+ per gallon. Burns 10 gallons in about 45 minutes. So I have to budget around $300 for gas for a race weekend.

Bah, worry less about going fast, and more about learning how to drive your car.
If you're complaining about $12.00 for gas, then please don't make track events a regular occurance, it ain't cheap! :-P

Yup it gets expensive. My friend used to race in SCCA Formula Contential class. Went through gas
like crazy. I miss those days though. Finally get his chance in the Skip Barber series, but couldn't find a good sponsor so had to quit. First year racing in SCCA most points in his area. Rookie of the year with other good stuff in there.
