Default I just posted yesterday about how easy it is to change our brake pads...well, changing front O2...

sensors sucks!!!! I was very proud of my amateur self for changing the pads on an A6 2.7T so I decided to get rid of my CEL on my car once and for all and replace my front O2 sensors.(consistently on for both front O2 sensors - long story but I did not have stock O2 sensors on there and I was getting 'internal resistance too high codes' with regular off the shelf O2 sensors). Anyway, changing the front ones suck..in case anyone is wondering! But, if you have small hands, you can screw the driver side one in with your hand then tighten with a long extension on a rachet. Lesson here - if you think your O2 sensors are bad don't try off the shelf O2 sensors from an autoparts store - they do not work correctly.

Can anyone explain why a cheap run-of-the-mill O2 sensor will not work and why ours are so much money?

Default well, I got the point of no return...getting them out....this may have been...

one of my less bright ideas....I am not a mechanic but like to screw with the car on weekends (I think like most here) - I've put in a boost gauge, changed brake pads, installed a bi-pipe, fixed BPV...the usual pretty easy stuff..but these front O2 sensors are really hard to get to - I was not going to pay Audi hundreds of dollars though...so I have a few scrapes to show for it!

I got the Y-pipe off, undid the air box hose thing, took out (well moved over) the coolant tank and then got the sensors out..I looked at my car and said - OH SH@#$@#T I really hope I can get this all back together.

Default If you have a nice 02 socket and a big ol extension it's not too bad

it helps to have another person hold the heat shield out of the way though...I have many cuts heheheh
