You need winter tires. Snow and mud are not your only -- or even most significant -- problems. The rubber compound in the P6000s starts to firm up as the weather gets cooler. You can start losing grip even when the street is bone dry. I plan to drop my P6000s as soon as the weather starts getting consistently below about 45F

Default Only if you have a death wish! You at least need all seasons so the compound will still work in the

cold

Default NO please don't. I live in albany as well and you are really asking for it.

get some snow tires. My dad just got blizzak lm-22 mounted on 16" atp s5 wheels from the tire rack for $960. Not a bad price IMO

Default Also in Albany - go with winter tires on 16" wheels

First, get new wheels.

In snow, narrower is better. If you go with 16" wheels on the S4 you may be able to get narrower tires.

Secondly, you don't have to put your tires and stock wheels through the trauma of re-mounting twice a year.

Third, you can put high-performance tires on your stock wheels for all those non-winter months, and not pay the penalty in performance that all-season tires bring.

Finally, as others have posted, the Pirellis become nearly useless as the temperatures drop.

As soon as I burn through my Pirellis, I have a full set of Bridgestone PP S-02s sitting in the garage, just waiting to be mounted.

What about New Jersey. Do you need blizzacks?
