Default I need advice on buying my new turbos

My original turbos have started making loud winning noises and are not boosting properly. I know itīs time replace them.

I was looking at going stage 3, but my budget isnīt helping right now.

I want to install two new turbos, but maybe K04 or something better and then go full stage 3.

Can anyone recommend if I should use K04 turbos or maybe the Garrett GT28s?

My idea is to drive the car for some 5 to 6 months with the new turbos and then go full stage 3 at the beginning of 2011.

Thanks

Dude if you're having to spread a full K04 stage 3 kit over time, don't even think about the GT28's yet. That'll run you $25k easily to do right.

2nd on skipping the GTs. What you want to do is decide how much turbo you can afford right now and how much you want to ultimately spend to use their full potential.

The cheapest upgrade is going to be Rs4, both in terms of initial cost of the turbos and final cost of all the other parts you will eventually be getting.

Will the car run well with just the K04 turbos or what would be the minimum modifications required after turbo installation?

Thanks everyone.

Initial mods - New turbos (K04 or RS6 turbos maybe)
Manifolds
Motor and tranny mounts.

I am still researching, but practically I want to install everyting that is possible while the engine is out in my inital mods.

next step mods - Fueling kit with intake, spark plgus, etc.
Intercoolers

Thanks

Default RS4 hybrids are really nice on a stock engine...

...might want to call Vast and see if they are still making them. Straight RS6's would be nice too, especially if you plan on sinking more money into the car in the feature.

Not sure what you meant by manifolds, but you dont need new manifolds for k04 turbos, nor will the other aftermarket manifolds net any gains that are worth the price tag and their inevitable cracking in the future.

Default it all depends on your budget...

When the engine is out, it is a great time for a new clutch, EGT deletes, mounts, electric fan kit, timing kit, O2's, and on and on. The bigger your budget is going into the project the better!

Yeah, you can run the car with K04 turbos and no other mods. The boost is modified by the ecu program, so without a new tune the car will perform more or less the same on k04 as on k03.
