now, it has been but cold here 15 degrees.
But when I drive, the water temp gauge will only go up 1 - 2 notches...well below the staright up half way it normally sits at.
If I sit at a parking lot for 5 mins or so...water temp will go to normal straight up. As soon as I begin to drive....it starts to move left and cool down.
Oil temp stays steady at 175 degrees regardless, and heater come right up to temp and works fine.
Thoughts.....
I was thinking either sending unit or thermostat.
Both are getting replaced this springwhen I do the timing belt service.

Your thermostat is stuck open and needs to be replaced.... u can try the sensor first since its cheap to replace but i dont think its going to be the problem...how many miles do u have? if ur close to 65k and haven't done the t-belt just do it then

that wasn't the case with mine, but still the easiest thing to change/fix.

and while it should be the thermostat, I'm on my 3rd one. That being said, the coolant temp sensor is a cheap ($5) easy DIY fix.

I said "If" the oil temp doesn't drop on the highway, it's the temp sensor. When my thermostat went, the water and oil temps were "normal", along with the heat, during around town, stop and go traffic. When on the highway, they both dropped like a rock, along with the heat. That's a bad thermostat. :-)
