I should know this. Can TIP trannies handle Stage 3 power, or is L10 required?

Default Far from an expert here, but I've...

seen this come up in a few topics. Afer all of the mixed responses I've read, I'm starting to believe it's luck of the draw with your car. ie. My K03's blowing in 7,000 miles and yours blowing at 125,000. I know there are at least two people here @ Stage III with a Tip'. I know I'm gonna be one of the "Gamblers" and see if mine is gonna handle it. "Feelin' lucky"?

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/2174964.phtml</a

I wouldn't do it. I think the Tip can barely handle Stage 1.

Default Not true.Spout some facts, not just this old hearsay!....

There have been ZERO proven HP/TQ related failures of the TIP.

There is a seal that goes bad in in 2000-2001ish Audi cars. This seal is in the Torque Converter. It goes bad on stock cars. NOT HP/TQ related. Audi simply relaces the whole Torque converter (only way to replace this seal with out rebuilding the TC). Many people "think" this is a TC failure, it is only a seal. The new converters Audi puts in just have a revised seal.

NO ONE. Has flat out blown one up yet! There have been no hardparts broken, no cases craked and no clutch failures that can't be directly tied to a dented trans pan and leak.

There have been 1-2 random transmissions with problems. But not enough evidence to tie those to any performance upgrade.

There are MANY people running K04ed cars with STOCK TIPS with zero problems.

There seem to be MANY more 6 speed problems than TIP problems. (clutches, syncros, shift forks etc).

99.9% of the "Tips can't handle the power" stuff is rumor mixed with the macho attitude that sticks are better than autos.

Until we have PROOF....know one really knows. What I do know it that there are many with K04s in various configurations and stock tips handling the power fine right now.

Quick Reply: I should know this. Can TIP trannies handle Stage 3 power, or is L10 required?
