Default I STFA for fuel filter replacement but....

all I found was the A4 tech article and underneath my car doesn't look the same as in the walk-through. Am I not looking at the right one or should I just guess.

Only one strap holds my tank on and I don't know exactly where to pry from.

Thanks in advance

Default when I did mine I didn't do any prying or loosening of the tank straps

Spray PB Blaster or WD-40 on sides of filter can (near top) making sure that it is running behind the plastic strap.
Then turn filter side to side while prying (ok, I lied) the plastic tab so filter will move past it and the filter will slide right out.

Default Ok I don't even see my filter right now...

Car is on jack stands and the right rear tire is removed. Just point me to it and I can probably go from there.

Thanks =)

Default if it gives you any trouble at all, i.e., spinning trapped nut. just cut that

strap and use a hose clamp to put it back on. I did that on both of my B5's. Go ahead and laugh it now makes for 10 min fuel filter changes.

Default you need the special tool! Someone on here had 100 of them made for us! Or you need

to make your own tool , I did that and it works, but it is a PITA because of clearance..

But hey once you do it once, its easier the next time.

Have you undone that hex(ish) screw that holds the brace on the filter? You will neeed to loosen that to get her to come out..

Here is the thread that had a picture before of the special tool, but it has a link to a writeup for you also. Good luck, and don't give up, you can do it.

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/2773023.phtml</a
